Arundel was born in Oxford the son of the Late Arthur Edward, and Kate Clarke (nee Crabb) Both Parents predeceased him.

His brother Brinsley Guise Sheridan Clarke lived at Eastborne Lodge Westward Ho!. He might have been responsible for ensuring his brother was honoured on the memorial board in Northam church.
