Husband of Ethel Grace Vivian Elsmie, Son of Elizabeath and George Robert Elsmie, C.S.I., LL.D. He was born in Aberdeen in 1866 Research by others suggests that Lieut Col G.E.D. Elsmie was murdered in India on the 18th June 1917, possibly by nationalists. In 1915 while serving with his Regiment in France he was awarded the French Legion d' Honneur.
Lieut Col G.E.D. Elsmie is remembered on the Royal North Devon Golf Club Memorial Board. His golfing prowess is reported throughout 1910 in the local press.It suggests he spent some time in the area before the war. No local residence found.
