Born in Appledore Thomas was the son of Charles and Caroline Snell, of 'Sweethome' Terrace Northam (1911 Census)

Thomas was listed as Jobbing Gardener aged 18 (1911 census.)  He enlisted in Bideford and his medal card indicates that the Battalion arived in France on the 25th of July 1915, exactly two months before his death.  Family Grave St Margarets Churchyard X2f 7
